As a seasoned actor with a diverse and extensive career, I have had the privilege of immersing myself in the art of storytelling from various perspectives. Beginning with performing as a dancer in front of audiences around the world, to feature films, television, and stage. My journey in the entertainment industry has ignited a profound passion for directing—a calling that fuels my creative spirit and drives me to explore new horizons in the world of filmmaking and theater.
The transition to directing has been a transformative experience, allowing me to view storytelling through a fresh lens. I am deeply committed to the craft of directing, embracing the challenges it presents both creatively and intellectually. Having stood in the shoes of an actor, I possess an innate understanding of the actor's process, enabling me to collaborate effectively and draw out authentic performances. When I was very young, I created comprehensive narratives with pencil illustrations. I started my first full-length story when I was 12, traveling in a camper through New Zealand about a young girl and her love and nurturing of an abandoned pony.
My first attempt at a script was to transpose my 12-year-old self’s horse story into a film script. I had no idea how to write a script, and it felt like such a daunting task, but I focused on a wonderful piece of advice from a friend. He told me to challenge myself to write just one page a day.
After 40 years of contemplating this story, I completed a full script in about four months. What an amazing feeling!! Writing that script solidified the fact that I love the process. I like the solitude, the satisfaction of creating characters, a story, and the feeling of achievement bringing it to fruition.
